Financial Research Methods: Build Real Skills That Matter
Learning to analyse financial data isn't about memorising formulas. It's about developing a mindset that questions assumptions, tests hypotheses, and makes sense of numbers that actually mean something. We start classes in September 2025, giving you plenty of time to sort out what you need.
Ask About The ProgramQuantitative Analysis Foundation
Numbers tell stories if you know how to listen. We spend the first twelve weeks getting comfortable with statistical methods that financial analysts actually use. Not theoretical exercises—real datasets from Australian markets, with all their messy inconsistencies.
Qualitative Research Approaches
Sometimes the most valuable insights come from conversations, not spreadsheets. This track focuses on interview techniques, case study development, and understanding market behaviour through patterns that aren't immediately quantifiable. Starts in November 2025.
Mixed Methods Integration
The best research combines both worlds. Learn how to design studies that use numerical data alongside human insights. We cover survey design, data triangulation, and how to present findings that decision-makers can actually act on.

Practical Skills Over Theory
Regression analysis that goes beyond textbook examples—working with real company financials from ASX-listed firms
Building research proposals that get approved, not just academic exercises that sit in a drawer
Data visualisation techniques that communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Research ethics and compliance frameworks specific to Australian financial regulations
Time series analysis for understanding market trends and economic indicators
Who You'll Learn From
Our instructors work in the field. They teach what they use, and they understand the difference between academic theory and workplace reality.

Rowena Blackwood
Lead Research Instructor
Spent eight years analysing investment portfolios before switching to teaching. Still consults with three Adelaide-based firms, which means the case studies you'll work on reflect current market conditions, not outdated examples.

Imogen Farrell
Qualitative Methods Specialist
Built her career conducting market research for retail banking. Now she teaches interview techniques and ethnographic approaches to understanding customer behaviour. Her sessions focus on extracting insights from conversations, not just collecting quotes.

Learning Format That Works
Classes run twice weekly in the evenings at our Hindley Street location. We record everything, but honestly, the discussion part is where the real learning happens. Group projects start in month three. You'll work with people from different backgrounds, which tends to produce better research outcomes.
